State Takeover Of Georgia High School Sports Proposed

One of the icons in Georgia high school athletics thinks the state would be making a big mistake by doing away with the independent Georgia High School Association and assuming control of state high school competitions itself. Veteran Buford Athletics Director Dexter Wood said he was β€œgreatly concerned” with two bills currently under consideration in the Georgia Legislature that would do away with the GHSA and place the state’s popular high school sports, literary, band and other competitions under state auspices.>>>Read more.

Police Defend Not Arresting Flaggers At Child's Party

Douglasville's police chief describes a volatile and confusing situation last summer when his officers responded to calls that a group waving Confederate flags and weapons was disrupting a black child's birthday party. Woman, Accomplice Charged With Killing Her Ex-Husband's FiancΓ©e

The ex-wife of the man whose fiancee was found dead outside a Roswell home has been arrested in connection with the woman's murder. Roswell police have arrested James Jerome Lloyd, 31, of Milton and Petra Elvira Reese, 55, of Grove Town, and have charged the pair with the murder of 53-year-old Karen Lee LaForge. Reese is the ex-wife of Joe Reese, LaForge's fiancΓ©, the department said.>>>Read more.
