Theft Suspect Arrested

A Cumming man is behind bars after he was arrested on theft charges, Forsyth County sheriff’s deputies reported Thursday.

William Jon Howard, 45, faces charges of Theft by Taking, Forgery, and Computer Crime (Use of Computer to Commit Theft), all of which are felonies, according to the office’s Facebook page.

Howard allegedly siphoned $152,684 from accounts of a local business and subcontractor while acting as the manager of said accounts, deputies said.

The thefts occurred between May 2014 and August 2015, according to the sheriff’s office.

Forensic evidence showed the money was transferred with 73 fake checks. The stolen cash was sent to accounts owned by Howard’s mother’s company.
