Woman Wearing Cross Steals $3,000 From Georgia Church

The Hall County Sheriff's Office is searching for the suspect in the robbery of Corinth Baptist Church.

GAINESVILLE, GA β€” A woman in a dress, with a cross around her neck, stole more than $3,000 worth of musical instruments and electronic equipment from a Gainesville, Ga., church, authorities say.

The Hall County Sheriff's Office is asking the public for help identifying the woman, who doesn't exactly fit the typical profile of a high-price burglary suspect.

The burglary took place at Corinth Baptist Church, at 3590 Thompson Bridge Rd. in Gainesville, some time between midnight and 6 a.m. on August 25.

The sheriff's office said there were no signs of forced entry at the church. Photographs of the woman were captured by security cameras inside the church.

The Rev. Chris Swan told the Gainesville Times he does not believe the woman is a member of the church's congregation. Swan said a tablet, headphones, sound mixers and other items were discovered missing on the Sunday morning following the burglary.
