Competition Squad Has What It Takes to Become Champions
Coach Ashley Taube and the Mill Creek competition cheerleading squad remember to have fun while staying focused on winning.
The Mill Creek Varsity Cheerhawks competition squad has proven they have what it takes to become champions this year. They placed 1st at Apalachee, 2nd at North Gwinnett, and 1st at Grayson.
“Our goal every season is to place top four at Region, so we can compete at the state competition,” head coach Ashley Taube said. “We believe that a clean routine will win, so we strive to give a clean performance that is entertaining and fun to watch.”
The team is very focused on going to state, but they remember to have fun along the way. Perhaps the ability to have fun and stay focused is exactly what makes this group of girls a winning team.

“We are a silly group this year that loves to cheer and work together,” Taube said. “We like to win, so that helps us stay focused. This group works very well together with very minimal attitude. They are nice girls who enjoy being silly, but understand what it takes to become a champion.”
While they have their fun moments, the cheerleaders remain serious about each and every competition.

“Each invitational is important to help us prepare ourselves and make sure we are scoring well on the score sheet," Taube said.
Though the invitationals are important, the main event on the calendar is the Nov. 5 regional competition at Oconee County. If the Cheerhawks finish in the top four, they will advance to the state competition in Columbus, which is scheduled for Nov. 11-12.
Taube hopes the community will continue to show its support for the squad as the season progresses.
“We appreciate all support at competitions,” Taube said. “We typically perform better when we have a large crowd in front of us, so we are always thankful when people come out to watch us compete. We have a lot of talent on the mat this year, and we hope to have another great season.”
