• Local fire officials urge cleared hydrant access in city (daltoncitizen.com) — Dalton's fire chief is asking residents to keep three feet of clear space around any fire hydrants on their property so firefighters can connect hoses quickly in an emergency. The Dalton Fire Department also urges drivers to respect no-parking fire lanes and tight cul-de-sacs so trucks can turn around and reach both fire and medical calls without delay.
• HMC chosen to present at ACS conference (daily-tribune.com) — Dalton's Hamilton Medical Center is getting national attention as Surgical Services director Madison Mills and surgeon Dr. Rod Rodriguez were chosen to present their colon surgery safety work at a major American College of Surgeons conference.
