• J.W. Vick (chattanoogan.com) — Dalton is mourning the passing of 82-year-old J.W. Vick, a devoted father, Papaw, and friend remembered for his gentle, caring nature and deep love for family. Visitation is at Ponders Melrose Chapel in Dalton Monday evening and Tuesday morning, with services there Tuesday at 11 a.m. and burial that afternoon in Gilmer County.
   

• 73-year-old Georgia man killed in Lauderdale County motorcycle crash (rocketcitynow.com) — A 73-year-old man from Dalton Kenneth L. Franks, died Saturday when his motorcycle left the road and hit trees in Lauderdale County, Alabama. State troopers say he was thrown from his Harley-Davidson and pronounced dead at the scene along Lauderdale County 14, about seven miles west of Florence.
