Higher Calling Christian Academy

Higher Calling Christian Academy (HCCA) is a faith-based learning community located in South DeKalb County dedicated to helping children grow academically, socially, emotionally, and creatively in a safe and nurturing environment. Our Summer Camp 2026 theme, “Choose Your Adventure: A Summer of Discovery at HCCA,” gives families the flexibility to enroll their child for the entire summer or select individual weeks based on their child’s interests. Throughout the summer, campers ages 5–12 will experience engaging, hands-on learning through themed weeks focused on gardening and sustainability, STEAM exploration, sports and teamwork, entrepreneurship, leadership, and creative discovery. Campers will participate in exciting activities including outdoor exploration, science experiments, engineering challenges, team games, creative arts, field trips, and youth business projects. A strong focus of our summer program is literacy and enrichment. Campers will participate in daily reading and enrichment activities designed to strengthen comprehension, creativity, communication, and critical thinking skills. As part of our literacy initiative, campers will visit the local public library twice each week to participate in summer reading opportunities, explore new books, and develop a love for reading and learning. What makes HCCA unique is our commitment to combining fun, enrichment, and purpose in a supportive Christian-centered environment. We strive to support the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development of every child while encouraging creativity, confidence, leadership, and exploration. Families appreciate our flexible enrollment options, affordable pricing, extended hours from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., three meals provided daily, and CAPS acceptance. DECATUR, GA — A former GBI inspector turned herself into the DeKalb County Jail Wednesday afternoon after being charged with one count of racketeering.Sandra Putnam, 44, is accused of making improper purchases with her purchasing card, or p-card. Investigators believe Putnam used the card in more than 350 transactions totaling over $87,000. The GBI says Putnam ordered the items for personal use and had them shipped directly to her home.
