21st Century STEM Academy Hosts Open House Events
Tours will be held in April and May for prospective students and parents.

DECATUR – 21st Century STEM Academy (“21C”), a micro school that focuses on preparing students to succeed in today’s global economy by using a personalized learning model, with an emphasis on science, technology and mathematics, will host a series of open house events the next six weeks to invite area parents and students to learn more about the school.
21C has begun accepting applications for up to 40 new students for the 2018-19 school year at its location across from the Emory University campus at 1549 Clairmont Road in Decatur.
Parents can tour 21C from 6:30 pm to 8:30 p.m. on April 19, April 24, April 26, May 1, May 3 and May 8.

“Micro schools are the latest educational trend from Silicon Valley to New York City, and we provide parents and students the best opportunity to have exceptional teachers and personalized, project-based learning in a small learning environment,” said Heather Robinson, consulting director of 21C. “With small class sizes and one-on-one tutoring, this affordable educational option is just what many parents have been looking for.”
Unlike costly private academies, micro schools are more affordable and don’t have the burdensome bureaucracy and regulations of public schools that make it difficult for exceptional learners to get specialized instruction. Tuition is just $850 a month.

In addition to a comprehensive college preparatory liberal arts curriculum with an emphasis on language and mathematics literacy, 21C provides a host of learning experiences and modalities including computer coding, robotics, aeronautics with a sit-in flight simulator, a Maker Space (with 3D printers and pancake printing robots), project based STEM, Yoga, Mandarin Chinese and an Early-College program.
21C opened last August and will be the first in a series of micro schools to open in the metro Atlanta area. One, two or three-day hybrid school/home school programs will be offered, and the school’s cloud based blended learning curriculum allows students to complete assignments at school or whenever most convenient.
“With so many jobs of the future focusing on high-tech skills and automation, it is critical that students have a deep background in technology to be competitive in our changing economy,” Robinson said. “Parents appreciate that our school is preparing children for the jobs of the future whether they be with Amazon, Google, Facebook or another high-tech company.”
