3 Murder Suspects Arrested This Month: DeKalb County Sheriff's Department

Two Decatur residents and one Lithonia resident were arrested in connection to three unrelated murders, says DeKalb Sheriff's Department.

DECATUR — Three murder suspects in DeKalb County have been arrested this month, according to a news release issued by the DeKalb County Sheffif’s Office. The murders were unrelated.

On Oct. 20, police arrested Decatur resident Quavon Shenard Battle, 22, near Johnson Road in Atlanta. According to an arrest warrant, Battle is accused of murder in the shooting death of Decatur resident Frederick L. London on October 11, 2021 during an alleged drug transaction at a fast food restaurant on Memorial Drive in Decatur.

Also, on October 20, 2021, 18 year-old Lithonia resident Cortez Damon Florence was arrested on a murder warrant in connection with the shooting death of Devan Jackson. The shooting occurred during a fight among several people on Mt. Vista Road in Stone Mountain on Oct. 15, according to the DeKalb Sheriff’s Office and US Marshals Service.

A third suspect was arrested Oct. 21. Decatur resident Darien Everett Jone, 41, had a warrant out for murder in the death of Patrick Ponder Lynn Iris Drive in Decatur on October 15, 2021, according to the sheriff’s department. They said that no motive was given for the shooting.

All suspects were transported to the DeKalb County Jail, where they are being held without bond.
