DECATUR, GA — A 40-year-old postal worker died in a crash Monday evening in the Belvedere Park area of Decatur, according to media reports.
The two-vehicle crash happened around 7:15 p.m. in the 3700 block of Larkspur Terrace, DeKalb County Police said.
A passenger vehicle was attempting to turn from Iris Lane onto Larkspur when it hit the U.S. Postal Service vehicle, police said.
The postal vehicle then overturned, and the driver died of their injuries at the scene, police said. Officers did not identify the driver.
When it flipped, the truck pinned the postal worker underneath it, WXIA-TV reported. She was identified in the report as Tinisha Cade.
Neighbors told WAFB, Cade was a mother to four children.
The USPS released the following statement to media outlets:
"The Postal Service is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of a postal family member in a fatal incident on April 27. Our thoughts are with their family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. We will be providing counseling services to our employees at the Decatur Main Post Office as the investigation into the incident continues."
