• DeKalb County Board of Ethics to meet Sept. 17 (ocgnews.com) — DeKalb County's Board of Ethics is meeting in person in Decatur on Thursday, Sept. 17, at 6 p.m. at 178 Sams Street, giving residents a chance to hear ethics reports, advisory opinions, and pending case updates. If you live or work in Decatur, you can attend, comment publicly, and follow decisions that shape how county officials are held accountable.
• DeKalb School Board OKs policy protecting students from ICE (decaturish.com) — DeKalb's school board just approved repaying City Schools of Decatur $9 million in ESPLOST funds after an overpayment error, forcing DeKalb to delay some construction projects. The board also adopted a policy limiting ICE access to students, advanced Norman Sauce as superintendent finalist, and reviewed redistricting and screen-time changes that could affect families across Decatur and nearby clusters.
• VA awards $43 million in grants to fight Veteran homelessness in Georgia (va.gov) — Decatur is the backdrop for a major new investment in housing support for Georgia veterans, with the VA awarding more than $43 million to 21 community organizations for FY 2027. The money will fund homelessness prevention, rapid rehousing, and transitional housing programs statewide, including services for women, elderly, and mentally ill veterans. Local veterans at risk of homelessness are urged to contact VA resources for help.
