🌱 Applications For Cooling Assistance Due + New Homes On The Market

First, today's weather:

Here are the top three stories today in Decatur-Avondale Estates:

  1. The last day for DeKalb County residents to submit applications for energy assistance through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program is today. The available funds from the Georgia Department of Human Services provide a one-time cooling assistance payment of $350, $450, or $500 to provide assistance with cooling bills. (Monroe Local News)
  2. Five new houses have been listed for sale in the Decatur-Avondale Estates area. Homes available range from a 923 sq. ft., 2 bed, 1 bath for $275,000 to a $610,000 home with 4 beds, 3 baths, and 2,847 sq. ft. (Decatur-Avondale Estates Patch)
  3. Abortion rights activists gathered throughout the Atlanta metro area after the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. DeKalb County resident Leah Davis, 29, said "My life could be in danger if I have a complication during childbirth and I'm not allowed life-saving procedures." Davis was at the Friday morning protest holding a "My Body My Choice" sign. (Subscription: The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
