Atlanta Schools Seeking 400 'GO Team' Members
The teams, made up of teachers, parents and guardians and other community members, help set policy for Atlanta's public schools.

ATLANTA, GA — Only one day is left for candidates to apply to serve on the teams that help govern Atlanta's public school.
Friday, Feb. 23, is the deadline to declare interest in serving on an Atlanta Public Schools GO Team. More than 700 parents, educators and community members currently serve on local school governance teams, or GO Teams, as part of the district’s charter system operating model.
Since July of 2016, GO Teams have been working to develop their schools' strategic plans, offer input on budgets and develop solutions to address student needs. In June, the terms of about 400 parent-guardian, teacher, and community member terms will expire.

Candidates for these seats are nominated by the principal and approved by the team. All current GO Team members who have completed their term are eligible to declare candidacy and seek re-election for the available two-year term positions. No experience is necessary. Training and tools are provided.
Parents, educators and community members interested in participating on a GO Team can register online through February 23. Virtual voting for declared candidates will be open March 20-26.
