Avondale Estates' Oldest Business To Close at Year's End

Open since 1948, Ray's Indian Originals will close on Dec. 30.

Ray’s Indian Originals has been open since 1948, reports the AJC. The store is owned and operated by the Belcher family.

Ray Belcher‘s business began as a record story and jukebox rental. His wife Peggy began selling Indian art and jewelry in 1971. The couple’s sons, Jonathan and Mark, now own the business.

Jonathan Belcher says walk-in business no longer supports a brick-and-mortar location, but the store will continue with its Internet sales.

The store is hosting an open house marking Native American Heritage Month this Saturday from noon-5 p.m.
