Avondale Police Chief: We're Monitoring Sex Offender
The police department has received a number of calls about a man who commutes through the area daily.

AVONDALE ESTATES, GA -- The police chief of Avondale Estates has a message for concerned citizens: his department is aware of a sex offender regularly in town and is keeping an eye on him.
In an email to residents, Chief Gary Broden said the Avondale Estates Police Department has received numerous calls about a convicted sex offender who commutes on a bicycle through the area.
"He has been observed in Avondale Estates riding a bicycle, yelling and possibly agitated," Broden wrote.

The chief said Avondale officers "are aware of the subject's presence in the area and have been observing him and his activities."
Broden said the man travels a known route while in the city, normally on his way to and from Decatur.

Avondale Estates investigators have been in touch with probation offices in Fulton and DeKalb counties. The man is not wanted in either jurisdiction, but is being supervised by the Fulton County Probation Department.
His only current restrictions are that he must wear an ankle-bracelet tracking device and he cannot live in the same home with a minor.
Broden encouraged anyone with questions or information related to the subject to contact Investigator Gillis at 404-391-4526.
Anyone who sees the man in question commit criminal activity should call 911, not city hall, Broden said.
Chief Broden has announced he plans to retire next month.
