Baby, Two Others Injured By Gunshot in DeKalb Apartments

Police have charged Derico Clark, 23, with reckless conduct in the shooting.

DECATUR, GA -- A man mishandling a gun shot three people, including himself and a baby who lived next door, at a DeKalb County apartment complex late Tuesday, police say.

DeKalb County Police were called at about 10:40 p.m. Tuesday to the Wind Rush apartments, at 3841 Kensington Rd.

There, they found three victims suffering from gunshot wounds, including an infant who was shot in the back, in the parking lot.

From physical evidence and talking to witnesses, police say they determined that Derico Clark, 23, was handling a firearm inside his apartment when he accidentally pulled the trigger, shooting himself in the hand.

The bullet struck a woman in the apartment in the leg. It then went through a wall and hit the infant, who was in a neighboring apartment.

All three shooting victims were taken to the hospital and were in stable condition.

Police charged Clark with reckless conduct.
