Body Wrapped In Plastic Found Near Decatur

The body was discovered Tuesday morning by a sanitation worker, according to DeKalb County Police.

DECATUR, GA — DeKalb County Police are investigating after a man's body wrapped in plastic was found by a sanitation worker near Decatur on Tuesday.

The death is being treated as a homicide, said police spokeswoman Shiera Campbell. The body was discovered at about 8 a.m. Tuesday in the area of Flat Shoals Parkway and Warriors Path, Campbell said. That's just south of Panthersville and Interstate 285.

Police had not publicly identified the man Wednesday morning. The DeKalb County Medical Examiner's Office was scheduled to perform an autopsy to help determine a cause of death.

According to Fox 5 Atlanta, investigators said they do not believe the body is that of Timothy Cunningham, a worker at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention who has been missing since last Monday.
