The risk of hospitalization or death from heart disease is 32% lower in vegetarians than people who eat meat and fish. Researchers found that vegetarians had lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels than non-vegetarians.

There are many varying beliefs on the ideal diet and each is entitled to their view point. It is your body and you should pay attention to how you feel and the signs and symptoms that can accompany disease such as weight, blood pressure and cholesterol.

I myself am not a vegatarian. At one point in my life I was a raw Vegan, but found that I could not maintain normal body weight without the addition of animal protein back into my diet.
That being said the evidence is pretty clear and one should not discount or ignore these findings. Choose your proteins wisely (I try and only eat organic meats) and perhaps have plant based meals periodically to reduce the overall intake of animal proteins since this is only source of dietary cholesterol as plant based foods are cholesterol free.
