This Thanksgiving I'm Having Rooster, Not Turkey

Award winning journalist Brian McGrory's memoir "Buddy: How A Rooster Made Me A Family Man" released this month.

No, I'm not eating rooster, but I am going to read a new memoir that has gotten my attention! Crown Publishing sent me a copy of "Buddy: How A Rooster Made Me A Family Man" to review. Thanksgiving seems like a perfect time to share with a bird, have some quiet time, and count my blessings with my dogs.

Instead of doing a book review, I want to share this book with you now. Time is getting short on holiday shopping, and this book might make a great gift for family or friends.

Please note, I am not paid to promote this book. But I am excited. My favorite books to read are memoirs, and I am a huge animal lover. I dream of having chickens, goats, and a farm, but for now I live with my imagination on all of the above.

Written by award winning journalist Brian McGrory, it is not just a 'bird' book, but a memoir of his childhood, divorce, the dog that was the love of his life that died, and the romance that turned him into a family man with his dog's vet, her kids, lots of dogs and cats, and "Buddy" the rooster who does not take a liking to him. The book also is the story of his beloved dog. Brian McGrory leaves his city life to live in the suburbs and finds his home.

"Try as you might, you never forget that first time a rooster announces the dawn of a new day from your very own yard."  Small excerpt from Amazon's 'Look Inside' book feature.
