The Scott Jackson head coaching era at Decatur High School kicked off on the right foot last Friday night as the Bulldogs scored a 7-6 home win over Grady.
The victory avenged a 12-point season-opening loss to the Grey Knights last year as the Bulldogs will go for their first 2-0 start since 2010 against Therrell High on Friday at Grady Stadium.
It’s the first of two straight road games for Decatur, which will then return to play three of its next four at home, including the region opener against Cedar Grove on Sept. 27.

Therrell lost 40-6 to Jackson in its opener and has fallen to the Bulldogs in each of the previous three seasons. Decatur is looking for its first winning season since 2010 when it went 6-4.
The junior varsity Bulldogs kickoff their 2013 season Thursday versus Towers at North DeKalb Stadium at 6:45 p.m. according to the school’s website.
