Burglaries Up Almost 60 Percent in Decatur

Violent crime is down but property crimes such as burglaries are on the rise in Decatur.

According to recent police reports cited by Decaturish, burglaries rose by 59 percent in the months of May, June, July and August.

Larcenies increased by 23 percent, and motor vehicle thefts increased by 56 percent.

Assaults dropped by 20 percent, and robberies decreased by 50 percent.
