Burning Tractor Trailer Closes I-285 EB in DeKalb
Crews do not expect to have the interstate re-opened until 1 p.m.
A burning big rig has shut down eastbound I-285 in DeKalb County and caused significant traffic nightmares for area motorists.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, a tractor trailer involved in an accident near the Bouldercrest Road exit caught fire around 11 a.m., prompting the closure of all eastbound lanes of 285 in the area. Firefighters put out the blaze just before noon, but it may take another hour or more to completely resolve the situation.
As of 12:45 p.m. Monday, traffic on I-285 eastbound is at a standstill between Jonesboro Road and I-20.
