UPDATE: Car Hits Power Pole in Decatur; Traffic Affected

Georgia Power crews are still at the scene assessing the damage to the pole, but a temporary road closure has been lifted.

UPDATE (5:04 p.m.): Decatur police have re-opened Scott Boulevard to traffic after a car crashed into a power pole, but utility crews are still working in the area.

According to footage from WSB-TV, the the car struck the pole at the intersection of Scott Boulevard and Westchester Drive.

Decatur police spokeswoman Jennifer Ross said that Scott Boulevard had been closed between Clairemont Avenue and Coventry Road, but WSB-TV reports the closure has been lifted. Georgia Power crews remain on scene, and caution is advised.

ORIGINAL STORY: Decatur police are re-routing traffic on Scott Boulevard due to an accident involving a car which struck a power pole.

According to footage from WSB-TV, the the car struck the pole at the intersection of Scott Boulevard and Westchester Drive.

“Scott Boulevard is currently closed between Clairemont Avenue and Coventry Road due to a vehicle accident,” said Decatur police Sgt. Jennifer Ross. “Electricity is out in the area due to a damaged pole.”
