🌱 GBI Arrests 3 For Child Exploitation + DeKalb Election Error IDed

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Decatur-Avondale Estates.

Welcome back, Decatur-Avondale Estates. I'm here in your inbox per usual to tell you everything you need to know about what's going on in town. Because community information is power!

First, today's weather:

Humid with clouds and sun. High: 89 Low: 72.

Here are the top three stories in Decatur-Avondale Estates today:

  1. Multiple search warrants have led to arrests for the sexual exploitation of children in Coweta and Clayton counties. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation, headquartered in Decatur, announced the arrests of Chase Lee Glover, Malik Marshay Lundy, and Marcelo Mejia. The investigations into these men originated in separate reports about the possible upload and possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). All cases are unrelated. (Georgia Bureau of Investigation)
  2. The DeKalb Elections office has identified a ballot shift as source of the error in DeKalb commission District 2 election. After conducting a hand count in May, the DeKalb Board of Elections delayed the certification of the May 24 primary until June 3 in order to settle the race between Lauren Alexander, Marshall Orson, and Michelle Long Spears. Ultimately, Spears won the runoff. The shift was likely due to Don Broussard withdrawing from the election, causing all of the votes to shift upwards in the option list. (Decaturish.com )
  3. Need a new place for dinner this weekend? La Chiquiada, a new Mex-Cali restaurant, is now open on West Trinity Place in Decatur. Menu highlights include foraged mushroom quesadillas and Mezcal cocktails. Check out the restaurant's website for more details. (Eater Atlanta)
