ORIGINAL STORY: One man has been transported to the hospital after the car he was driving was struck by a cement truck in Decatur on Wednesday afternoon, police said.

According to Decatur police spokeswoman Lt. Jennifer Ross, the two vehicles collided at North Decatur Road and Superior Avenue at 12:22 p.m. The driver of the passenger car suffered minor injuries, while the driver of the cement truck was not injured in the crash.

Ross added that the driver of the cement truck was cited for failure to stop at a red light and for driving too fast for conditions.

The intersection should be re-opened by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Ross said.
