City Schools of Decatur Chooses Firm for Superintendent Search

City Schools of Decatur is one step closer to having a new superintendent after choosing a talent search firm to help them locate the best candidate.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the district has all but approved the bid of Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates out of Illinois. The firm wooed the school district by including a strong community aspect to their search plan and by claiming the process could be done in three to four months. Formal approval of the company’s bid will not happen until May 12, the AJC says.
On March 10, current City Schools of Decatur Superintendent Phyllis Edwards said she would be leaving the position by the end of the academic school year or the end of 2015 at the latest. Edwards said at the time that she planned to return to Florida, where she spent more than two decades in education before taking the Decatur job, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution said.
