City Schools of Decatur Considers Adding More Trailers
The agreement would see 12 new portable classrooms at Decatur High School and Renfroe Middle School, and 4 more at elementary schools.

Decatur’s growing student population may be spending more time in portable classrooms when the 2015-16 school year begins in August.
The Decatur Board of Education will consider awarding a contract for the addition of 32 trailers at Decatur High School, Renfroe Middle School, and Winnona Park and Glennwood elementary schools during their Tuesday evening meeting.
According to the meeting agenda, the contract with Mobile Modular would be worth $240,590.50 and would cover the installation of 12 new portable classrooms at the middle and high school, and four new portable classrooms at the elementary schools.

An estimated projection of City Schools of Decatur’s incoming student population indicated that Decatur High School would need six new portable classrooms, while Renfroe needs a dozen portable classrooms to accommodate its swelling population. Both elementary schools were projected to need four new portable classrooms.
The Decatur Board of Education’s meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Central Office located at 125 Electric Ave.
