'Clown' Accused of Smoking Meth at Waffle House Counter

Athens, Ga. man in a clown suit was arrested with a knife, LSD, marijuana and "white powder."

ATHENS, GA -- A man in a clown suit was arrested for drug possession at a Waffle House after an employee reported he was smoking meth at the counter.

Jacob Worthington, 25, of Gainesville, Ga., was charged with possession of drugs with intent to distribute after he reportedly locked himself in a bathroom at the Waffle House in downtown Athens early Tuesday morning.

According to an Athens-Clarke County Police Department report, an officer was called to the restaurant at 4:14 a.m. by an employee saying a customer was using drugs.

The employee told police that a man with red hair and wearing a clown suit had left a pipe on the restaurant counter after smoking the drug, then proceeded to lock himself in the bathroom.

After a worker unlocked the bathroom for officers, they escorted Worthington back to the counter, where he confirmed that the pipe and a bookbag on the floor nearby were his, police said.

He also told them he had a knife in one of his pockets.

Searching his bag and other belongings, police say they found LSD wrapped in tin foil, rolling papers, a digital scale, a jar of marijuana, a jar of psychedelic mushrooms, a "small golden keepsake containing marijuana" and a small bag of white powder.

It's unclear from the report, however, if what Worthington was allegedly smoking was actually methamphetamine. The report says he was initially arrested "due to the fact that he admitted ownership of the smoking bowl with marijuana residue inside it."

Worthington was booked into Clarke County Jail.
