CORE Presents EnCORE Dance on Film at the Decatur Arts Festival, Friday, May 27, from 5-10 p.m.

This is a free screening of 49 original dance works created for film by local, regional and national artists. See Atlanta films 7-8 p.m.

CORE, the award-winning contemporary dance organization based in Decatur, Ga. and Houston, Texas, will present EnCORE Dance on Film, Friday, May 27 as part of the Decatur Arts Festival. The screening of 49 original dance works created for film and performed, choreographed and directed by local artists as well as their regional, national and international peers, will be offered as part of “Breaking New Ground: New Dance” at The Decatur Arts Festival 2016, co-presented by CORE and Beacon Dance Company. EnCORE Dance on Film will be held from 5-10 p.m. at CORE Studios, 139 Sycamore Street on the Decatur Square. Doors open at 4:45 p.m. The event is part of Art Walk, which opens the 2016 Decatur Arts Festival. Each film is less than 20 minutes long. Submissions were solicited earlier this year, and the films to be shown were selected by a panel of judges. From 7-8 p.m., works by artists from Atlanta and Houston, where CORE is based, will be featured, and the local artists have been invited to attend and speak about their films. Among the Atlanta films to be shown are:
