DeKalb County Homes Will Experience Recycling Delays Due To Staffing Shortages

The DeKalb County Sanitation Division said there will be recycling delays due to COVID-19.

DEKALB COUNTY, GA — DeKalb County residents will experience service delays for recycling and yard trimmings due to "significant" COVID-19-related staffing challenges, according to the county.

The DeKalb County Sanitation Division said in a news release Thursday that sanitation crews will work through the weekend to ensure that no home is missed.

Residents are encouraged to keep their recycling and yard trimmings at the curb until servicing occurs.

"Because sanitation crews must work in cold and inclement weather, they are more susceptible to respiratory illnesses due to decreased resistance," the department said in a statement.

"The Sanitation Division apologizes for any inconvenience and appreciates residents’ patience as collection teams work toward completing scheduled service while ensuring the safety of all employees."
