Decatur Among Best Suburbs For Food Lovers

DECATUR, GA — Nestled right up against Atlanta like we are, one could argue about whether Decatur is truly a suburb, in the traditional sense, or not. But, if saying so gets our awesome food scene some more recognition, we'll take it.

Decatur was one of 11 U.S. suburbs named this week to the website Thrillist's "Best Suburbs For People Who Love Food."

"On the food front, certain suburbs distinguish themselves as having not just acceptable sustenance, but true destination-worthy eats that will inspire you to forget about whatever weird conspiracy theories you may have cooked up about your neighbors," Matt Lynch and Andy Kryza wrote for the site.

The article specifically praises 14 Decatur restaurants — Kimball House, Chai Pani, Tava, No. 246, Cakes & Ale, Revival, The Pinewood, The Iberian Pig, Leon's Full Service, Brick Store Pub, Farm Burger, Raging Burrito, Victory Sandwich Bar and Our Way Cafe.

"Yeah, there’s good food all around ATL metro, but if you want to make sure your dining dollars are well-spent, put your money on The Dec," the article says.

Because it's an article about metro Atlanta, there is the obligatory jab about bad traffic. But, as the piece notes, "no MARTA stop puts you within easy walking distance (as in less than a block) of so many seriously dope restaurants and bars" like Decatur's.
