Decatur Begins Planning Community Mural
The public art project will take shape on the MARTA overpass at West Trinity Place.

Three Decatur organizations will soon join forces with MARTA to plan and complete a community mural on a public transit overpass within city limits.

The Decatur City Commission gave its support for a grant to the Atlanta Regional Commission Public Art Program during its July 20 meaning, kicking off the process to create the mural on an overpass at West Trinity Place.
According to documents filed with the city, City of Decatur, the Decatur Housing Authority, and the Decatur Arts Alliance will collaborate with MARTA and the diverse communities surrounding the overpass to co-create a mural which supports the vision, βAtlantans share the belief that there is ample opportunity to participate in making history in our region.β

Communities who have a stake in the mural process include Trinity Walk, Allen Wilson Terrace, the Henry Oliver House, the Decatur Police Department, City Schools of Decatur, the Ebster Recreation Center, Swanton Heights, and more.
