Decatur Church Demolition Days Away, Developer Says
The church and almost a dozen nearby homes will be torn down and replaced with a mixed-use residential and retail project.

A 65-year-old church in North Decatur will be razed in a matter of days to make way for a new mixed-used development, the man behind the project said Friday.
Jeff Fuqua of Fuqua Development told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the Scott Boulevard Baptist Church and nine homes on Barton Way would be demolished shortly and the land transformed into a mixed-use development called Decatur Crossing, initially featuring 250 apartments, 60 condos, and 2,000 sq. ft. of retail space.
Further development of Decatur Crossing could feature a natural foods grocer and single-family homes on Blackmon Drive; a meeting to discuss these proposed aspects of the development will be held at 7 p.m. on March 2 at North Decatur UMC, the AJC said.
