Decatur Has Georgia's Lowest Average Credit Card Debt

A new list ranks the nation's cities with the highest and lowest debt, and Decatur is Georgia's only community to make the top 25.

Decatur has Georgia’s lowest average credit card debt, according to a new ranking by CardHub.

The city’s average debt is $5,526 with 22 payoff months, according to CardHub’s report. Decatur is the only city in Georgia to make the top 25, reports the AJC.

Brookhaven came in at No. 1,033, with an average of 41 payoff months on an average $7,743 debt. Dacula came in at No. 2,448.

CardHub and TransUnion teamed up to calculate the average credit card debt and number of months required to pay off those balances in 2,457 U.S. Cities.

The cities ranked owed more than $900 billion in credit card debt in 2015.

Cupertino, CA, had the lowest debt, at $4,703.
