Decatur Mayor Pro-Tem Won't Run Again

Decatur’s Mayor Pro Tem Kecia Cunningham has announced that she will not seek re-election, after spending over 15 years on the city commission.

Cunningham told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that plans that were two years in the making were coming to fruition, but did not elaborate on what those plans were. Cunningham and Mayor Jim Baskett, the two longest-tenured members of the city commission who were both up for re-election in the fall, have now both decided to step aside.
The mayor pro tem made headlines in June, when she was arrested for drunk driving; a police report of the June 11 arrest claims Cunningham blew a .147 when she was processed at the DeKalb County jail.

Cunningham told the AJC her arrest was not a factor in her decision to not run for another term.
