Decatur Pedestrian Killed In Hit And Run

The incident happened in downtown Decatur in the early-morning hours on Friday.

DECATUR, GA — A man walking along East College Avenue in downtown Decatur was killed early Friday in what police are calling a hit and run.

At about 3:24 a.m., officers responded to a report of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle in the 300 block of East College Avenue, which is near North Candler Street and Agnes Scott College. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to Decatur Police spokeswoman Lt. Jennifer Ross.

Ross said the incident is being investigated by Decatur Police and the Georgia State Patrol as a hit and run. The victim's identity was not being released Friday morning, as police were contacting the victim's family.
