The definition of A GOOD PATIENT

Can doctors rate on patients?

Dr. Bian Que
Dr. Bian Que

All of us are entitled to write reviews on doctors. Did you ever
imagine that doctors do that on patients? Bian Que was born around the
year of 401 BC (2421 years from now) He is the earliest known Chinese
physician, referred to as the ‘doctor of miracles’. He treated the rich
and the poor on even terms with great humanity. One famous legend story
of Bian Que was in the State of Qi, he saw the king and told him that
his disease located on his skin. The
king brushed his words as he felt no symptoms, and told his attendants
that Bian Que wanted profit from the fears of others. Bian Que is said
to have visited the king several times thereafter, telling him each time
that his sickness was getting worse, spreading from the skin to the
blood and to the organs. The last time Bian Que went to see the king, he
looked at him from afar, and did not say anything, then rushed out of
the palace. When an attendant asked him why he had done so, he said that
king’s disease was in the marrow and was incurable. The king died soon
after. This story reminds me of one of my patients. She is a medical
doctor diagnosed with lupus. The steroids she took brought lots of side
effects, along with severe complications, she is dying. Fast-forward 3
years ago, I saw her in my clinic and made meridian (pattern) diagnosis.
She did not listen just like the king did not listen to Bian Que.

Among a few famous books Bian Que authored, one is The Internal
Classic. There he named the five incurables. First, the arrogant,
thinking they are entitled to be treated different from others, or they
know better than the doctor. Second, the stingy, money means everything.
Investment in healthy is not their priority. Third, the non-compliant
alcoholics, the smokers, the druggies, I will add dieter too. Fourth,
the procrastinator. Hello, have you tried the New Year resolution every
year? Fifth, the dying, meaning people who is at the end of the disease,
such as the end stage of cancer. I will add three more incurables.
Sixth, the made appointments-repeated no shows. Seventh, the
argumentative, dictating what the doctor can dos. Eighth, the witch
believers, self-medicating, trust non-medical approved resources and
providers.
Now ask yourself - Are you A GOOD PATIENT?
