
DeKalb County Interim CEO Lee May and Super District 7Β Commissioner Stan Watson announce the return of the DeKalb International Food and Music Festival onΒ Oct. 19, noon to 6Β p.m.Β atΒ Northlake Mall,Β 4800 Briarcliff Road in Atlanta.
Festival admission and parking are free. However, food vendors will price their products and taste samples.
Coordinated byΒ Commissioner Stan Watson, the food and music festival will feature multicultural cuisine and entertainment from across the world, and represent cultural groups from more than 32 countries.

βWe are excited to bring back the DeKalb International Food and Music Festival and I am confident that the festival will unite the dynamic blend of cultures and traditions that continue to exist in our county,β stated Watson in a release.

Co-chairs for the festival include May, former DeKalb CEO and State Senator Liane Levetan, DeKalb Chamber of Commerce; the DeKalb Convention & Visitors Bureau, The Champion Newspaper and representatives from the Asian, European, West Indian, Middle Eastern, Hispanic and African communities.
βAs Georgiaβs most diverse county, we are proud to have numerous cultural groups call DeKalb home, this event is a great look at DeKalbβs vibrant population, traditions and cultures,β said May.
This event will include cultural, educational and entertainment activities for residents of all ages; including samples of delicious cuisine from across the world, and retail vendors highlighting their respective countries markets.
There will also be an interactive Childrenβs Village with bouncy houses, puppet shows, face painting and additional festival surprises for the kids. The Childrenβs Village has a one-time/all-day admission cost of $10. Β Β
In addition, agencies with an objective to serve the interests of the international community are also encouraged to attend.
Proceeds from the festival will be donated to the DeKalb County Police Alliance to use toward the insurance premium that covers sworn law enforcement officers that serve within the County and municipalities of DeKalb.Β
To date, festival sponsors include Gas South, Frontier Management, Georgia Pacific, Georgia Power, CH2M Hill and Cadillac Fairview Corporation Limited.
