DeKalb Commissioners Make Juneteenth A County Holiday
DeKalb Commissioners unanimously voted Tuesday to make Juneteenth an annual DeKalb County holiday.
DECATUR, GA — DeKalb’s Board of Commissioners made Juneteenth an official paid holiday for county employees.
The board unanimously voted Tuesday on the resolution sponsored by Commissioner Mereda Davis Johnson. Starting next year, it will be observed annually on June 19.
This year, on Juneteenth, the Confederate monument in the Decatur square was removed.
