Hello all. I'm here with your fresh copy of the Decatur-Avondale Estates Daily, full of all the things you need to know about what's going on locally.

First, today's weather:

Sunshine. High: 91 Low: 67.

Here are the top three stories today in Decatur-Avondale Estates:

  1. DeKalb County will present its plans for a county convention center tomorrow (Tuesday, Jun. 21) at 9:00 a.m. during its Board of Commissioners meeting. Formal recommendations from the Convention Center Study will be presented during the meeting, which the public can view here. According to James Tsismanakis, director of Discover DeKalb, developing a convention center will be a "game-changer for DeKalb in terms of revenue, economic development, and the ability to compete with local jurisdictions." (On Common Ground News)
  2. The effects of a 3.9-magnitude earthquake in Georgia traveled as far as the Atlanta area. The earthquake was registered in the city of Stillmore around 4:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. However, over 1,000 Georgians reported feeling light and moderate shaking. Thankfully, no significant damage or injuries have been reported. (NBC News)
  3. The Goodwill of North Georgia was highlighted in an Access Atlanta article on local consignment shops. The Decatur shop, located at 2201 Lawrenceville Highway Suite 300, is described as "brightly lit" and recognized for its wide range of items, as well as its clothing sections that are organized by color.
