DeKalb County Animal Services Takes in Over 700 Animals During August

"Fall in Love" Free Adoption Special Going Strong and Our Pets of the Week from DeKalb County Animal Service

By Karen Hirsch

The high number of animals coming into DeKalb County Animal Services (DCAS) during the summer – over 700 in August alone -- has prompted LifeLine Animal Project (the organization which manages the shelter), to offer a free pet adoption promotion called “Fall in Love.”

During the month of September, LifeLine invites you to celebrate the onset of fall by adopting any dog, puppy, cat or kitten for FREE at DCAS!

Adoption counselors will be on hand to ensure the animals are being placed in good homes.

According to numerous studies which monitored adopted pets for over a year, fee-waived promotions increase adoptions without compromising the quality of care that the animals receive. All September, adopters will receive a dog or cat that has been spayed or neutered, has had all vaccines and is microchipped – a $200 value – for FREE!

DeKalb County Animal Services Pet of the Week: Scarlett

Who can you adopt for free at DCAS? How about the wonderful and personable Scarlett? This three-year-old girl is extremely loving and well-behaved. Shelter volunteers who walk Scarlett say that she is good on a leash and just a wonderful dog. She gets along well with other dogs and is great with kids too. Scarlett loves to snuggle with people and would make a great addition to any household. And if you’re the lucky person who adopts this girl, you’ll pay nothing during September! Please come meet Scarlett by dropping by the shelter, emailing adoption@dekalbanimalservices.com or calling (404) 294-2165.
