There are 1232 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus and 18 coronavirus-related deaths in DeKalb County, as of Thursday morning.

DEKALB COUNTY, GA – There are 1232 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus and 18 coronavirus-related deaths in DeKalb County, as of Thursday morning, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health.

In DeKalb County, these numbers mean there are more than 164 positive cases of the coronavirus for every 100,000 people.
Here's the breakdown of deaths in Fulton County by age:

  • 30-39: 1 death
  • 50-59: 1 death
  • 60-69: 4 deaths
  • 70+: 12 deaths

Governor Brian Kemp has announced that all K-12 schools in Georgia will remain closed for in-person instruction for the remainder of this school year.

The Decatur High School community is evaluating options on how and when to hold their graduation ceremony in light of social distancing protocols.

Starting April 20, Decatur schools will change meal distributions to Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, with extra meals being sent home Mondays and Wednesdays to cover the days they are not serving. Meal service is planned until the end of the school year, which is May 22.
