DeKalb County Road Closures: List
DeKalb County emergency officials were warning motorists to stay off of all roadways Wednesday morning due to snow and ice.

DECATUR, GA — DeKalb County emergency officials were warning residents to stay off of the roads Wednesday morning, as snow and ice from an overnight storm shut down multiple roadways. Several heavily used roadways in the county were shut down to traffic.
The DeKalb County Emergency Management Agency was reporting multiple accidents related to the icy roads, which weren't clearing up due to temperatures that remained well below freezing Wednesday morning.
For anyone who absolutely must drive, the agency was reminding motorists to go slowly and leave extra space between themselves and the motorists in front of them.

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal issued a state of emergency late Tuesday for 83 counties, spanning much of north and central Georgia, urging Georgians to stay off of roads that iced up in freezing temperatures overnight.
Most areas of north and west Georgia received up to an inch of snow Tuesday afternoon and overnight, according to the National Weather Service. By 8:30 a.m., the temperature in Atlanta was still a freezing 16 degrees, causing concerns about frozen roadways.
"While many roads initially remained wet, the bitterly cold temperatures and continued light snow have caused most roadways north of a LaGrange to McDonough to Commerce line to freeze," the weather service said in a special weather statement.
The weather service warned of "extremely dangerous" driving conditions on Wednesday morning. Another half-inch to inch of snow was expected in north Georgia Wednesday morning, the weather service said, causing roads "to remain or become extremely slick and hazardous."
