DeKalb County Schools Reacts to Winter Weather Advisory
Forecasts predict a wintry mix on Friday, with the possibility of snow and black ice in some parts of the metro area.

DeKalb County schools will be in session on Friday, but all after-school athletic outdoor activities have been cancelled due to the threat of more bone-chilling weather.
According to the National Weather Service’s latest Winter Weather Advisory, accumulations of up to one inch of snow and one-tenth inch of ice could be possible in the area between 1 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday. The advisory says that snowfall would likely begin Friday night, followed by sleet and freezing rain overnight and into Saturday.
Any after-school athletic activities which are normally held outside but can be moved indoors will be allowed to continue, but games and practices which cannot be held inside are forbidden. High school coaches should work to reschedule games as the weather allows, the district said Thursday evening.
