Higher Calling Christian Academy (HCCA) is a faith-based learning community located in South DeKalb County dedicated to helping children grow academically, socially, emotionally, and creatively in a safe and nurturing environment. Our Summer Camp 2026 theme, “Choose Your Adventure: A Summer of Discovery at HCCA,” gives families the flexibility to enroll their child for the entire summer or select individual weeks based on their child’s interests. DECATUR — A DeKalb County school bus carrying two students collided with an SUV Thursday morning at Covington Highway and Lamar Street, DeKalb County School officials said. The crash happened around 6:30 a.m. Atlanta News First reported the <a href="https://www.atlantanewsfirst.com/2023/12/07/bad-crash-involving-school-bus-closes-roads-dekalb-county/" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">SUV crashed into the bus</a>, causing the SUV driver to be trapped and pulled from the vehicle.DeKalb County Police said the school bus was stopped with flashing lights at the time. The SUV driver was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, police said. School officials said the driver and students aboard the bus were taken to a medical facility for evaluation though no serious injuries were reported by the bus passengers. One of the students was from Peachcrest Elementary School while the other was a Bethune Elementary School student, school officials said. The families of the students and the bus driver have been notified about the crash, school officials said.
