The 57-year-old inmate had been incarcerated since January in the DeKalb County Jail, authorities said.
DECATUR, GA — A DeKalb County inmate died Sunday after being found unresponsive in his jail cell, the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.
Authorities identified the inmate as Van Lebron Johnson, 57. Jail and health services staff attempted emergency medical services on Johnson, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
Johnson was arrested on Jan. 22 after authorities said he had been released several hours prior on an unsecured judicial release bond. He was charged on suspicion of criminal trespass, giving false name to law enforcement and interference with government property, authorities said.
