DeKalb Jail Taser Incidents Examined by FBI

The federal government is investigating at least two reported cases of inmate abuse at the facility.

The DeKalb County Sheriff says his office is cooperating fully with an FBI investigation into allegations of misconduct by guards at the county jail.

According to WSB-TV, Sheriff Jeff Mann has given video recordings of two January, 2012 taser incidents to the federal government. The videos allegedly show misuse and abuse of the less than lethal weapons, and spurred an investigation which ended with the forced resignation of a sergeant at the facility.

WSB-TV said that at least five sheriff’s office employees were set to testify at the Richard B. Russell Federal Building regarding the incidents in 2012.
