DeKalb Medical Rehires Top Exec

Hospital names John Shelton, its former chief operating officer, to replace ex-CEO Eric Norwood.

has hired a familiar face to be the new president and chief executive officer.

John Shelton used to be the executive vice president and chief operating officer at DeKalb Medical. He left last winter to take a job with Mobile Infirmary Medical Center in Alabama.

At DeKalb Medical, he replaces Eric P. Norwood, who resigned Sept. 19. Norwood has been President and CEO of the DeKalb Medical since 2003.

DeKalb Medical announced Shelton's hiring Thursday in a press release.

"We are thrilled to have John back," Diane Harden, chief financial officer and interim CEO, was quoted as saying. "We look forward to continued growth with his leadership."
