DeKalb Officers Arrested For Sharing Sex, Drugs With Inmates

One former detention officer brought marijuana to an inmate and the other had sex with an inmate, according to charges against them.

DECATUR, GA -- The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office has arrested two of its own former detention officers for having inappropriate relationships with inmates.

Shanik Bishop, 26, and Nardia P.K. Reynolds, 30 were arrested in their homes Wednesday, the sheriff's office said.

Bishop faces charges of violation of oath by a public officer and crossing guard lines with a weapon, liquor or drugs, a felony.

The warrants alleges that Bishop provided marijuana to an inmate.

She was terminated after six months of employment with the sheriff's office.

Reynolds is charged with felony violation of oath by a public officer and sexual assault against a person in custody.

She was employed for two years at the jail before being terminated.

"We have no tolerance for anyone who violates the law," Sheriff Jeff Mann said in a news release. "And we are particularly diligent at policing our own to ensure that they remain law-abiding citizens while working within this environment. If they take advantage of their positions, they are held to the same standards as anyone who commits a crime in DeKalb County."
