DeKalb Police Officer Dies in Wrong-Way Crash

A DeKalb County police officer died in a wrong-way crash in South Fulton County just after midnight on Saturday.

11-Alive reports the officer’s patrol car collided with a vehicle that was going the wrong way. The officer was airlifted to the hospital where he later died.

He was identified as Kevin Toatley, a seven year veteran of the department. WSB-TV reports Toatley had worked the scene of the police chase where a separate DeKalb police officer was shot.

The accident is under investigation.
